Being safe on the roads during the winter is extremely important. However, it is also vital that your semi cabin is stocked with everything you could possibly need in the case of an emergency. For drivers who have been on the road for many winter seasons this may seem like a no-brainer but there are many supplies that sometimes can be forgotten regardless of your experience. Below you can find a list of the most important things you should keep in your cabin all winter long.
1. Warm Clothing
There is truly no such thing as having too many layers to potentially wear while you are on the road. Start with basic winter wear like a coat, boots, gloves or mittens, sweaters, hats, scarves, thermal wear and whatever else you can think of. Also always dress in layers as you can always remove them if you are too warm.
You may just assume that you will be able to stop at an exit every time you need sustenance. However, this is not always the case. In the winter you stand the chance of restaurants or gas stations being closed due to weather, or worse your truck may not be able to take an exit due to excessive snow. The food you pack should be able to last over a long period of time. Snacks like peanut butter and crackers are ideal.
We are assuming you have a flashlight in your truck already but it won’t do you much good if the batteries inside of it die. Make sure to pack extras just in case. After all, better safe than sorry.
